Build With Claude Code · Session 1

Ship your personal website

Build a real website about you, from your resume, and put it live on the internet, by talking to an AI. No coding.

The one idea

The more good context you give the AI, the better the result.

Today the context is your resume. That's the whole trick: real facts in, a real site out. Remember this line; it's the entire idea.

Where we're headed today

My personal site, travisfraser.com, started as my very first Claude Code project, the same first prompt you're about to write. It took hundreds of iterations to get here. Push past where most people stop and make it unmistakably yours.
No terminal. No commands. Everything happens by typing plain English into the Claude Code desktop app.

Two tools

Claude Code: an AI that reads and writes the files in a project folder, like a teammate doing the typing. We use the desktop app.

Vercel: free hosting. It takes your files and puts them online at a public address.

GitHub is optional. You don't need it here, we're staying simple.

What you do, step by step

The starter prompt

"Build me a clean, modern personal website using only HTML, CSS, and JavaScript… Use the attached PDF as the source for my background… Only use facts from my PDF. Do not invent jobs, dates, or numbers."

The full prompt, with a copy button, is in your Session 1 handout. Fill in the blanks, send it once.

Preview is not live

Preview = on your computer, only you see it.
Live = the .vercel.app link, anyone can open it.
When you change your site, you must deploy again. The live link does not update by itself.

You are the editor

The AI is good, not perfect.

Your turn

Follow the Session 1 handout if you'd rather not rewatch the video. Stuck? Paste any error straight back into Claude Code; that's the normal workflow.
